History of Monument of Joy
International Kingdom Church

Monument of Joy International Kingdom Church was birthed in Norfolk, Virginia at 3539 Ocean View Ave in October 1998. It was organized as a church in November 1998 under the leadership of Apostle Zoe El. A few of the ministries in operation were the Transitional Home, Evangelism and the Food Ministry.

In August 2000, the Lord gave us favor in purchasing our own worship facility at 3032 Tidewater Dr. Norfolk, VA and added to the church daily such as to be saved. A few of the ministries in operation were the Balm in Gilead Substance Abuse Ministry, the Water Brook Ministry (Prison Ministry), J.O.Y. Ministry (Youth Ministry), MOJ’s Food Pantry and more.

While fellowshipping on Tidewater Drive, God gave us favor to secure the Hope House in December 2005. At Hope House, we housed various ministries, including the Balm in Gilead Substance Abuse Ministry, Battered Women's Shelter, God’s Soup Kitchen (Food Ministry), G.R.i.P. Youth Ministry, Moses Army (Young Men Mentoring), Water Brook Ministry, Summer Camp and more.

In October 2013 the Lord made a way for us to move into 3110 Sewells Point Road. While at this location we continued the Man in the Mirror Men’s Ministry, Women Excelling in Excellence, L.I.V.E. Youth Ministry, Food Bank, Evangelism, Empowerment Sessions, Discipleship Classes, and the Intercessory Prayer Line to the community.

God continues to add to the church daily.

How to Know Christ: The Plan of Salvation

"It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away (James 4:14)."

"It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27)."

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12)."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16)."

"For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3,4)."

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9)."

STEP 1: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made salvation (Romans 10:9,10)."

STEP 2: "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (Acts 3:19)."

STEP 3: "For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13)."

Questions That Go Unanswered

Q. Some people come to our door and claimed their Bible shows Jesus was not divine. What do you have to say about this?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "I'm quite sure your visitors were very sincere about what they were saying, but I strongly urge you to examine their claim carefully. Because sincerity is not the test of truth; only God's Word is final."

Q. On TV the other day, they were talking about a man who claims to be God's one true prophet. Could this be true?

Apostle Zoe El writes, " Don't be deceived by those who reject the Bible or twist it's clear meaning, or claim the Bible needs the 'wisdom' of some later prophet to make it complete."

Q. How do cults differ from Christianity? Apostle Zoe El writes, "Cults reject the basic beliefs of the Christian faith-beliefs that Christians have held in common for almost 2,000 years."

Questions That Go Unanswered

Q. My husband had been having an affair with someone he met at work. He claims it's all over, but I don't think I can ever forgive him. Is our marriage finished?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "Yes, your trust has been shattered. But if you both are willing to start again (as your husband seems to be), you can come through with an even stronger love."

Q. How can you trust someone who's lied to you repeatedly, and then keeps on doing it?

Apostle Zoe El. writes, "Perhaps the place to begin is with your words. Words of love and encouragement can do much to bring healing."

Q. My wife and I are legally separated, and it's about broken my heart. Is there any hope for us?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "Keep praying, and do whatever you can to let your wife know of your love. If you also were at fault in some way, confess it to God and seek His forgiveness -- as well as your wife's."

Q. A couple of years ago, I had an affair. Have I committed the unpardonable sin?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "The first step you need to take is to turn to God and seek His forgiveness. God loves you and wants to lift your burden of guilt and shame -- and He will, as you open your heart to Jesus Christ."

Questions That Go Unanswered

Q. I've been in and out of jail more times than I can remember (drugs, alcohol, things like that). Am I hopeless?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "God loves you no matter what your past has been. He loves you so much that He sent His only Son into the world to die on the cross for you."

Q. A friend of mine gave his life to Jesus recently, but he says he doesn't see anything wrong with continuing to smoke pot?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "God doesn't want us to cloud or confuse our minds in any way, whether with drugs, alcohol or anything else. When we do things like this, we endanger ourselves morally, spiritually, and even physically."

Q. How do you know when to give someone a second chance, and when to let them suffer the consequences of what they've done?

Apostle Zoe El writes, "As a general rule, I urge people to go the second mile with wayward people - in other words, keeping some relationship with them if possible."
